Craigneuk started off well pressing Weir hard from the first minutes with McKnight breaking down the left wing and putting the cross that was just out of reach of Broadfoot.
P. Rooney passed the ball out of the defence well helping to create one of to early chance from cross which the forwards where unable to convert from. Broadfoot broke play on the left side of the field before switching it over to Wands who took the ball just to wide of goal to trouble the keeper.
A short free kick taken quickly by McKnight to P. Rooney allowed the right back to have a shot that was blocked by the Weir defence. The first real attack from Weir cam from a cross after a bad corner, the cross was left by the Neuk defence and was pounced upon by the Weir forward who put the ball in the back of the net, (0-1). Rusky was
forced to leave the game early on with an injury,
SUB: Rusk – off, Fisher – on.
With fisher entering play Tango was moved to the centre of midfield to partner S. Rooney. Minutes after the substitution P. Rooney collected the ball from a throw in and made his way towards goal before having a strike at goal from 20 yards that rattled the bar and bounce, some claim over the line but the ref waved play on, before Fisher reacted quickly to smash the bouncing ball over the line, (1-1). McKnight played the ball short to S. Rooney who won Neuk a corner. Tango played the ball in to Wands who headed the ball over the goal keeper who had came off his line and hit the bar. The ball fell to S. Rooney who played it back to Wand who put it just wide of goal.
Half Time; Melon, Oranges and juice where served.
After the break Craig McGowan was throw into the game in place of the injured Andy Wands.
SUB: Wands – off, McGowan – on.
Again Neuk started well with Tango playing McKnight a through ball but the striker was deemed to be offside. Fisher also played the ball forward to McKnight who was again judged to be offside. Weir looked to get back into the game when they won a corner after a great save from McMillan.
A long ball from the corner was defended well in the air by Murray who cleared it before Moon marshalled the team of the box to help the attack. Tango broke through into the Weir box before being tackled, the ball falling to the feet of McKnight who was only able to put it over the bar. Pele ? played the ball across the park to S. Rooney who
walk through the middle of the Weir defence before picking his spot in the bottom right corner to give Neuk a disserved lead, (2-1). Tango Played the ball long up the park to McKnight who could only cross the ball to Fisher who’s close range effort was saved before Gowny rolled back the years and reminded the spectators why he had
been thrust into the action with an expertly placed chip over the grounded keeper and flatfooted defender in front of him, (3-1). A double substitution in the middle of the park seen Hill and Dee come on.
SUB: S. Rooney – off, John Hill – on.
SUB: Tango – off, Darren Phillips – on.
For the remainder of the game Neuk continued to impress pressing forward while Weir struggled to break down a defensive master class from Moon and Murray in the heart of the defence. The lat chance of the game fell to Gowny after a pass from Pele? But he was only able to force the save.
