All of North Lanarkshire schools are open today.

However, education officials are warning that school car parks will not be cleared and conditions on side streets and access routes will be difficult.

A council spokesman said: "It is unlikely side streets will be cleared and school transport will set down on main roads.

"Vehicle access to schools will be difficult and we would ask all road users to be extra cautious.

"Arrangements have been put in place for special schools to ensure ramps, stairs and walkways are cleared for wheelchair users and other pupils."
