An estimated 20,000 people flocked to Strathclyde Park yesterday (Sunday 29th November) to view a gladiatorial contest that saw Reaction Fireworks crowned Scotland's Firework Champion. The three finalists: Reaction, Fireworx Scotland and Midnight Storm, each delivered 10-minute displays that had the crowd ooohing and ahhing all round the loch.
The fireworks were the culmination to a great day in the park where crowds braved the winter chill to enjoy The Leading Edge Aerobatics, music of all genres, Clyde 1 entertainment and plenty of family fun. Thousands took part in the Wee Willie Winkie lantern-lit walk to raise funds for St Andrew's Hospice, finishing in time to enjoy the full fireworks spectacle.
David Carroll, of North Lanarkshire Council was delighted with the day, " The Fireworks Championship is great event and Strathclyde Park is a perfect venue. We've been honoured to act as hosts and are very proud of the 20,000 people who turned out to support the Hospice and enjoy the St Andrew's Homecoming celebration."
