To Whom It May Concern:
I am sending this letter in regards to the proposed closure of St Matthews RC Primary School, Wishaw. This letter is to show that I totally oppose the closure of St Matthews, which is the heart of Our Community and parish. Moving our children to another school does not guarantee their safety which is more important than financial gain. Save money elsewhere.
Live up to your motto “Service and People first.”

To Whom It May Concern:
I am sending this letter to show that I support the retention of St Matthews RC Primary School and vote that the School is kept open. This school is like no other, as it is not just a school; it is the heart of Our Community of Craigneuk and Wishawhill. Keep our children in the safety of their Own Community.
Live up to your motto “Service and People First,” money can be saved elsewhere.

To Whom It May Concern
I wish to strongly oppose the closure of St Matthews RC School in Wishaw. This little School, not only represents a great education for the children in this deprived area, but is also the heart of the community, and the parish.
You state that your motto is “Service and People first.”
Live up to the motto; help our School and Community with the service of staying open. Let us put the people (children) first.
Regards,

To Whom It May Concern
I write this letter to oppose the closure of our local school, St Matthews RC Primary in Wishaw. This school, not only provides a great education for the local children, the majority of children walk to school within a safe walking distance, with no main roads to cross, but it also provides a place where the children can get extra help if they have additional needs. Put aside the finance, what about the Parish and the Community, save money elsewhere. Put the children first. Save St Matthews School.

Its ridiculous that St Matts is shutting, this is the School I attended and plays an important part in the area. My son currently attends this school.
More council cutbacks, its shocking, nobody is happy |

Save St. Matthews Primary School, I went to this school years ago and would hate to see it closing! |

As Christmas is upon us, Mr Scrooge has raised his head to the community of Craigneuk and Wishawhill. As the three ghosts line up to play their part: the ghost of councils past and present dictate no future for our community. Mr Scrooge has the purse strings and the purse is tightly closed. We are shown the future as being very bleak, as our School is under threat due to the keepers of the purse thinking of the mighty buck over Tiny Tim's future, and the future of his family, our community.
Christmas present is a financial struggle looking for jobs in the streets of Wishaw, like scraps of food for the hungry, not finding a crumb.
In this economic climate they are still spending money to the detriment of our wee school, on flowers and plants in a place that is as derelict as the desert. Like putting a white dress on a dirty child. Again our community is the scape goat. What is going to happen? Are they going to keep going until our community is nothing but empty land! Who will be next in line for the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and No Future.

I totally agree with Mags, is seems that the council have already made their mind up without consultation. They do not care about the community ort the family impact. i lived down south for a number of years and in several different counties and i can sincerely say that North Lanarkshire Council rates as the worst of the lot

We need this school in our community without it we have nothing both teachers and pupils have worked so hard to make it a gd place to be and the kids have done well in getting money to fix up the playground who wants our kids to travel more than a mile up the road to strange schools when they can walk to the one they have
Please support this cause |

Give St Matthews Primary you're support, it,s a great wee school with a terrific education curriculum, the HMIE report which was done in 2007 states so, we dont want to put children 5 & under on school buses, our children should be able to go to school in their own community, and what about the parish, these children all know Father Chromy, he visits the schol regularly & has a great rapport with the children, i say Learning & Leisure could save the money else where, & leave our School, we are going to be going door to door soon to ask the people of craigneuk & wishawhill if they will sign letters we have printed out, so if we come to you're door anyone that can write their name, even p1 then please please give us you're support, these children don't want to go to a strange area or school, email the Learning & leisure at stmatthewsconsultation@northlan.gov.uk. the more the merrier. Save Our School. |

Please contact me. I have fought 2 school closures - 1 for my own kids in 83/84 and won. The 2nd for the primary school of which I am a governor in 2009. We lost. I may be able to offer you advice. |

I think the proposed closure of St Matthew's primary school is a disgrace. The children in Craigneuk and Wishawhill deserve a school in the heart of their community where they can fell safe and secure. The local government are disregarding local peoples views. Under the Tory government of Margaret Thatcher they closed Ravenscraig despite the Craig breaking all records for production. They put a lot of families out of work and they did not care. We have started to pick ourselves up from this and now our own local government which is made up of local councillors has now tried to put the death knell back on our community by proposing to close our school. It is time the community told them to back off. We have took enough knock downs. The people in this area deserve a break - imagine expecting young children from 4+ to travel a couple of miles to another school. They would feel more isolated as they would be going to another area that they did not know and they would not have the luxury of going home at lunchtime if they wanted to. The council have stated they would be able to enjoy extra curicular activities - our children would not be able to take part as they would need to get their bus home. Everyone in the community needs to get behind this group and show their support - SAVE ST MATTHEW'S SCHOOL - for our children and children's children. There has been a catholic school in this area for over 110 years, are we going to let them take the heart out of our community. |

As a parent of pupils at St Francis of Assisi Primary which is also under threat of closure, I wish to offer you my full support in your fight to save your school. Our children have the right to attend a school in their local community. All the best with your campaign. |
